Judge Not
I hope that you are making strides as you continue along your journey to spiritual development and connecting to that part of you that is purely spiritual. I want to take this time to talk to you about judging other people. I chose this topic because judging other people is something that we as humans do all the time. We have always lived in a society that is prone to judging other people and drawing conclusions based little or no information. It is in fact true more today than ever before. Personally speaking I know that I have to make a conscious decision everyday to make sure that I am not succumbing to that very basic human emotion of being judgmental. Now there are those days when it is a very difficult thing for me to do. On those days I remember a very important quote of Jesus. "Judge not least you should be judged cast out the beam in your own eye before you can cast out the beam in your brothers eye."
The fact is being judgmental is an emotion that we all have and it comes with being a human being. The problem with this emotion is that it is based on our own experiences, circumstances and things that have made us who we are. There are things that must be considered before we attempt to pass judgment on some one else. We must have an understanding of the experiences, circumstances and things that have made a person who they are before we can judge a person. It does not matter if it is because of what a person has said, done, feel or the way the way a person looks.
More times than not the person that is doing the judging is at a bitter disadvantage because they do not have all the information that is need in order to make a judgment about someone else in the first place. Now there are going to be times in all of our lives that we are going to have to judge some one it's inevitable. What you need to remember when you find yourself in this situation is the words of Jesus "Judge not least you should be judged cast out the beam in your own eye before you can cast out the beam in your brothers eye" If you are where you need to be with regard to your spirituality and your relationship with God. In addition to the fundamental principals of spirituality that you have implemented into your life everyday to be the best possible human being that you can be then you are in a position to begin to judge some one. I must caution you that when you are judging someone be careful that in forming your judgment you have left room to do everything that is within your power to change the thinking, behavior or words of the person that you are judging. Even after your judgment you must put yourself in the position to be able to help the person correct their behavior, thinking or words. In other words you can not judge a person for stealing food because they are hungry when you have not offered to give that person something to eat or invited that person over to you house to eat with you every time that you eat.
